Vietnam could wait until 2022 for World Cup qualifiers FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) have revealed that they are set to reschedule the Vietnam national team’s remaining 2022 World Cup qualifying fixtures against Malaysia, Indonesia, and the UAE to next year.
“With the aim of protecting the health and safety of all participants, FIFA and the AFC will continue to work together to closely monitor the situation in the region and to identify new dates for the respective qualifying matches,” the statement said.
Ho Chi Minh City FC in group F were supposed to have played on September 23 at their Thong Nhat Stadium, and Than Quang Ninh in group G, on September 29 at their Cam Pha Stadium in the northern Quang Ninh Province.
Other tournaments have been pushed back to next year, including the remaining matches of the 2022 World Cup qualifying round in Asia, the 2020 AFC U16 Championship and the 2020 AFC U19 Championship. — VNS
