All Blacks star Richie Mo’unga has issued an apology after he was one of five players filmed associating and passing a ball at a Christchurch park on Monday. It was a clear breach of New Zealand’s strict isolation measures, under which households must stay within their “bubble” and observe social distancing from others.
“As I arrived I [talked] to the boys from afar, asking how they were and got ready for my running session. As I had finished one of my running sessions, the ball had been kicked over and instinctively I went and picked the ball up and threw it back to them.
Councillor and musician Maurice Cohen congratulated the men who’d “put this matter into shape,” but added it was a scandal it had been left so late. The council now had revenue from the racecourse. Surely it could find the £150 or £200 a year for The Square?
