“Charitable organizations function as public trusts — and District law requires them to use their funds to benefit the public, not to support political campaigns, lobbying, or private interests,” Washington Attorney General Karl Racine said in a news release. “With this lawsuit, we aim to recover donated funds that the NRA Foundation wasted.”

Investigators said the NRA plundered the foundation to make up for low membership and lavish spending. Washington Attorney General Karl Racine said the law requires charitable organizations to use funds to “benefit the public, not to support political campaigns, lobbying, or privateinterests.”
Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance did not share details about his probe, but the office told a federal judge earlier this week that it was a “complex financial investigation” that followed reports of “possibly extensive and protracted criminal conduct at the Trump Organization.” The investigation included charges of alleged insurance and bank fraud.
Now, six months on with no end to the national nightmare in sight, many are laying down permanent roots. While New York has overcome its battle against the virus, the rest of the country – where lockdown rules have been far more relaxed – is seeing a resurgence.
