Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that students will study under a new curriculum drawn from the National Education Policy when the country celebrates its 75th year of Independence in 2022, and asserted that the curriculum will be “forward-looking, future ready and scientific“.
Addressing the event, the Prime Minister called NEP 2020 a medium to fulfil new hopes and necessities of a new India. He added that the policy was devised after four to five years of hard work by people from every region, genre and language. He added that the work on it was still in progress.
The Prime Minister said the world changed in the last three decades but India’s education policy remained the same. In the current system, marksheet has become “pressure sheet” for students and “prestige sheet” for families, Modi said, adding that the new policy aims to remove this pressure.
Besides, the Prime Minister said the Centre is focusing on ensuring that free ration under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) reaches to the needy person in Bihar. He also said the PMGKAY has been extended till Diwali and Chhath festivals in November.
